Companyorg.nr. 923 456 783
A Norwegian company that keeps other people's data on Norwegian ground.
Founded in Oslo in 2016 by four people who had spent several years explaining data residency to auditors and got tired of the answer.
What we are
TechViking AS sells one product: S3-compatible object storage, in Norway, on hardware we rent space for and operate ourselves. We do not sell compute, we do not sell a database, and we have turned down every request to build a Kubernetes offering.
The company is owned by its four founders and by an employee share programme that covers everyone past twelve months. There is no venture capital in the cap table, no foreign parent company, and no board seat held by anyone outside Norway. This is a deliberate constraint rather than a virtue: it is the only structure under which we can promise that no foreign court has a lever to pull.
What we are not
We are not a hyperscaler and we are not cheaper than one at small volumes. Below roughly 2 TB, Backblaze B2 or a Hetzner Storage Box will cost you less, and we will say so if you ask. Our case starts to make sense when the residency requirement is real, when egress is heavy, or when someone in your organisation has to sign a form saying where the data sits.
We also do not have a European region outside Norway, and we do not plan one. If your requirement is EU-wide rather than Norway-specific, you want a different supplier.
Ownership and finances
Revenue for 2025 was 71,4 MNOK with an operating margin of 11 %. We have been cash-flow positive since 2021 and have no external debt beyond an equipment lease. The company is small enough that this fits in a sentence, and we would rather write it here than make you ask.

Sub-processors30 days notice
Everyone who could, in principle, see your data.
This list is exhaustive. We give 30 days written notice before adding to it, and you may terminate without penalty if you object.
| Sub-processor | Purpose | Location | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ekeberg Kolokasjon AS | Colocation, Oslo sites | Oslo, Norway | Physical access only |
| Havbryn Datasenter AS | Colocation, Stavanger | Rennesøy, Norway | Physical access only |
| Lade Bergrom AS | Colocation, Trondheim | Trondheim, Norway | Physical access only |

No sub-processor is established outside Norway, and no personal data leaves the EEA. Object contents are encrypted at rest, so colocation staff have physical access to disks but not to readable data.

Transparency Act statement
The Norwegian Transparency Act (åpenhetsloven, in force 1 July 2022) requires larger enterprises to carry out and publish human rights due diligence across their supply chain. Our current statement covers the 2025 financial year and was approved by the board on 30 June 2026.
Our supply chain is short. Hardware comes from two vendors, both of which publish their own due diligence and hold current audits of their manufacturing sites. Colocation, transit and accounting are all Norwegian companies subject to the same act. We identified no actual adverse impacts in 2025 and two areas of elevated risk, both in upstream component manufacturing, which we are following through the vendors' own reporting.
Anyone may request further information under section 6 of the act. Write to apenhet@techviking.cc and we will answer within three weeks, which is the deadline the act sets.
Accessibility statement
This site targets WCAG 2.1 level AA and currently meets it for contrast, keyboard operation and focus visibility. Two known gaps: the wider tables scroll sideways below 560 pixels instead of reflowing into a stacked layout, and the page has no dark theme, so it ignores prefers-color-scheme. Both are on the list rather than fixed. Report anything else to tilgjengelighet@techviking.cc.
